  • Three Can-Am Maverick X3 rally buggies in formation on a red dirt trail in Khao Yai, viewed from behind, dust trails behind them, late afternoon light through tall jungle canopy.
  • Driver’s POV from inside a rally buggy cockpit, gloved hands on the wheel, jungle trail rushing toward a forested ridge in Khao Yai, motion blur on the periphery.
  • Two large canvas safari tents lit warmly at dusk in a private Khao Yai jungle clearing, a long candlelit dining table for eight set on the lawn between them, stars beginning to appear.
  • Three rally buggies parked in front of the InterContinental Khao Yai Resort entrance at golden hour, the resort’s distinctive train-carriage architecture visible behind, no people.
  • Two glasses of single malt whisky on a low stone wall at a Khao Yai jungle viewpoint at sunset, mountains rolling into the distance, warm cinematic light.

Six buggies. Sixty kilometres of closed trail. One night under canvas or in a hilltop suite. Helicopter both ways.

The Lara difference

Why this is rarely done well.

The trails worth driving in Khao Yai sit on private land — public ATV tours never see them. Stitching closed-trail access, six matched buggies, helicopter timing and the right overnight base into one quote takes four separate operator relationships moving on the same date.

Lara holds the trail-access introductions and a single source for the buggy fleet. She names the route, the overnight base, the chef and the helicopter slot in one quote — and the recovery vehicle waits at the trailhead before you arrive.

Four to twelve men marking a milestone — a fortieth, a deal closed, a founder’s offsite. Guests who want a weekend with edge, not a wellness retreat. Riders of any experience: the convoy adapts to the slowest driver.

How it works

One message. Then arrive.

  1. Step 01

    Tell Lara

Date, headcount, fitness range, base preference (camp or resort suite block). Two weeks lead time for the trails.

  2. Step 02

    Lara confirms the weekend

Trail route, buggy count, named coach, overnight base and helicopter timing. Total cost locked before you commit.

  3. Step 03

    You arrive

Helicopter from Bangkok, briefing at the trailhead, buggies are warm. Camp by sunset, breakfast, second loop, helicopter back.

Common questions

The quiet answers.

  • What does a private rally weekend cost?

All-in with six buggies, two days of closed-trail access, one night’s accommodation, chef, helicopter return and full insurance: USD 22,000–34,000 for four to six guests; USD 38,000–55,000 for ten to twelve. Insurance and medic included.

  • Do we need off-road driving experience?

No. The lead guide runs a 30-minute briefing on a flat practice loop before the convoy heads out. Lara only books groups where every driver clears the briefing — and the sweep guide rides at the back at the slowest driver’s pace.

  • Camp or resort overnight?

Both work. The private camp is the headline experience — canvas suites, chef under the stars, total isolation. The InterContinental suite block suits guests who want a full bathroom, spa and a quiet morning before round two.

  • Bangkok–Khao Yai by helicopter or road?

Helicopter — 35 minutes, lands at the trailhead. Road is three hours each way and burns the day. Lara only quotes road if the headcount exceeds the helicopter manifest.
